The organic, slightly irregular shapes are modern and earthy, the kind of tableware you see in restaurant food photos, and they make simple home cooking look styled without any extra effort. The set serves six: six dinner plates, six side plates, six 6-inch salad bowls, six soup bowls, an oval serving platter and a matching pair of salt and pepper shakers. Dark tableware makes bright food stand out, so sukuma, pilau, grilled fish or a colourful salad look especially good on it. It suits couples and young families who want something different from white crockery, and anyone who likes a natural, rustic table setting.

Specifications

Pieces

27

Contents

6 dinner plates, 6 side plates, 6 salad bowls (6 inch), 6 soup bowls, 1 platter, 2 salt and pepper shakers

Finish

Dark green reactive glaze with dark brown rim

Shape

Organic, irregular rounded shapes

Serves

6 people

Buying guide

Reactive glazes vary from piece to piece, so expect each plate to have its own speckle pattern; that variation is part of the appeal, not a defect. The dark colour hides everyday marks and stains better than white, which makes this a good choice for daily use. Because the shapes are organic, the plates stack slightly unevenly, so give them a little more shelf space than a standard round set. Wash with a soft sponge to keep the glaze glossy, and avoid knocking the rims together in the sink. The shakers sit neatly on the platter for serving. If you plan to mix with other tableware, plain white or wooden serving boards pair well with this green.

How it compares

Against a standard white dinner set, this one has far more personality and hides wear better, but it is less neutral if you like to change your table styling often. Compared with buying artisan stoneware piece by piece, you get a fully matching set for six, including bowls in two sizes and shakers, in one go.

Frequently asked questions

Are all the plates exactly the same colour?
The reactive glaze creates natural variation in speckles and tone, so each piece is slightly unique, which is intended.

What sizes are the bowls?
There are six salad bowls of about 6 inches and six soup bowls.

Does it include serving pieces?
Yes, one oval platter and a pair of salt and pepper shakers.

Do you deliver outside Nairobi?
Yes — same-day delivery within Nairobi and countrywide shipping to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and beyond, with payment by M-Pesa or on delivery.

Available at WIMU Kitchen, Nairobi. Same-day Nairobi delivery · countrywide shipping (Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret) · pay by M-Pesa or on delivery.
