It sits over your couch armrest and gives you a steady spot for a cup of tea, a bowl of cereal, snacks, the TV remote or your phone, so you are not leaning over to the coffee table every few minutes. The circular top is about 25cm across with a raised rim that helps keep things from sliding off, and the legs stand about 10.5cm high to straddle many standard armrests. Made from natural bamboo, it has a light, warm finish that suits most living rooms, and the legs fold so it stores flat when you are not using it. It is a practical buy for small Nairobi apartments where there is no room for an extra side table, and a thoughtful gift for a new home.

Specifications

Material

Bamboo

Shape

Round with raised rim

Size

Approx. 25cm diameter, 10.5cm leg height

Design

Foldable legs

Use

Snacks, drinks, remotes, phone on the sofa armrest

Buying guide

Check that your sofa armrest is suitable before ordering; the legs are about 10.5cm deep, so very wide or rounded arms may not suit it. Keep cups and bowls near the centre for balance. Clean with a damp cloth and dry immediately, and avoid soaking bamboo in water. Fold the legs to store it flat behind the sofa or in a cupboard.

How it compares

A side table takes up floor space that small living rooms often do not have. This tray puts a surface right on the armrest instead. Compared with plastic clip-on cup holders, it gives more space for a plate, phone and remote together, and bamboo looks far better on display.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the tray?
The round top is about 25cm across, with legs about 10.5cm high.

Does it fold?
Yes, the legs fold so the tray stores flat.

Will it fit any sofa?
It suits armrests that the legs can sit over.
