The smooth, wipe-clean surface means spilt detergent and water just wipe away, and dust from Nairobi's dry season stays off the control panel and door seal. In the photos, the cover has a flip-up front panel so you can open the drum and load laundry without removing the whole cover. It comes in a choice of cheerful prints, from pink strawberries and pastel florals to a playful cat design, which hide an older machine and add a soft touch of colour to the laundry corner. It suits renters and homeowners alike, especially where the machine stands outside or near a window in direct sun.

Specifications

Size

58 x 62 x 85 cm

Fits

Front load washing machines

Feature

Waterproof, smooth surface

Designs

Various prints available

Buying guide

Measure your machine's width, depth and height before ordering; this cover is 58 x 62 x 85 cm, which suits most standard 6 to 8 kg front loaders. A cover that is slightly loose is better than one that is too tight, since it must slip on and off easily. Always let the machine cool and the door seal air out after a wash before covering it fully, so moisture does not get trapped inside. Wipe the cover with a damp cloth to clean it, or hand-wash in cool water and air-dry. If your machine is outdoors, the cover also helps limit sun fading on the plastic panel.

How it compares

Without a cover, dust settles into the door seal and detergent drawer, and sun bleaches the control panel. A towel thrown over the top soaks up water and slides off. This fitted waterproof cover protects all sides, wipes clean and stays in place, and top-load covers will not fit a front loader properly.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my washing machine?
It is made for front load machines measuring about 58 x 62 x 85 cm.
