Seven pieces that dress the bed and the window together: a warm woollen duvet set with curtains cut to match. Matching the two is the thing most bedrooms never manage, because curtains are bought separately months later in a different shade. Buying them as one set is how a bedroom ends up looking designed rather than assembled.

Buying guide
Measure the window drop before ordering, since curtain length is the one dimension a bedding set cannot guess. Hang the curtains before you make the bed so you can see how the tones read together in your own light — bedroom colours shift considerably between a shop and a room with one window. Wash the curtains on a gentle cycle, less often than bedding.
How it compares
Against buying bedding and curtains separately, a matched set removes the guesswork and the second shopping trip. Against a cotton duvet set, wool is warmer — better for the cold season and the highlands. Against plain curtains, coordinated ones tie the room together, though they leave less flexibility if you change the bedding later.
