A 90 litre cylindrical outdoor waste bin with a domed lid and a side access port — public-space equipment rather than a household bin. The dome keeps rain out of the waste, the side port is where the rubbish goes in, and the cylindrical body is what gives it the structural strength to stand up to being knocked, leaned on and emptied daily.

Buying guide
Specify placement before you buy: bins in public spaces work when they sit on the walking line, not in a corner people have to detour to. A side port keeps rain and larger fly-tipped items out, which reduces emptying frequency. Plan on liners sized for 90 litres and a fixed emptying schedule; an overflowing public bin attracts more litter than no bin at all.
How it compares
Against an open drum, a domed lid keeps rainwater out, which halves the weight you have to lift and stops standing water breeding mosquitoes. Against the hexagonal 90 litre bin, the cylinder is stronger under impact while the hexagonal version sits flatter against a wall. Against a household bin, this is built for outdoor public abuse.
