Geepas Digital Infrared Cooker with Ceramic Element and 10 Power Levels - GIC6920 — WIMU Kitchen Nairobi

Geepas Digital Infrared Coo...

Ten power levels and a 4-digit LED display is what turns a countertop cooker from a hot plate into something you can actually cook on. Most single burners give you a vague dial; here you set a level and read it back, which means simmering a stew at the same setting every time rather than guessing and scorching the base. The ceramic heating element works with every pot you already own — aluminium, clay, glass, steel — unlike induction, which only heats magnetic cookware and quietly forces you to replace your sufurias. A stainless steel body and high-temperature resistant glass surface are what let it take daily use, and digital touch controls wipe clean where knobs collect grease.

Buying guide

Infrared versus induction is the decision, and it usually comes down to your pots. Infrared heats the surface directly so anything works, including clay and glass; induction is faster and more efficient but only heats magnetic-base cookware, which for most Kenyan kitchens means buying new pans. The trade-offs with infrared to know about: the plate stays hot for several minutes after switching off, so treat it as dangerous until cool, and it responds to setting changes slightly more slowly than induction. Ten power levels with a digital readout is what makes precise cooking possible, so use them rather than defaulting to maximum. Keep the glass surface free of grit, since anything trapped under a heavy pot can scratch or crack it, and lift pots rather than sliding them. It draws real power, so avoid sharing a socket with other heavy appliances.

How it compares

Against an induction cooker, this works with every pot you own where induction needs magnetic pans, though induction is faster. Compared with the Sanford 2200W infrared cooker, that quotes higher wattage while this leads on 10 levels with a digital LED readout. Against a gas burner, no cylinder and precise digital control, but it depends on mains power. Against a full electric hob, a countertop unit costs a fraction and can be stored or moved.

Frequently asked questions

Will my existing pots work?
Yes — infrared heats the surface directly, so aluminium, clay, glass and steel all work. That is the main advantage over induction, which only heats magnetic cookware.

Why do 10 power levels matter?
You set a level and read it back on the display, so a stew simmers at the same setting every time rather than being guessed at and scorched.

Is the surface dangerous after cooking?
It stays hot for several minutes after switching off. Treat it as hot until fully cool, and only wipe spills once cooled.
