Knitted Throw Blanket 130 x 170cm - Soft Textured Throw for Sofas, Beds and Armchairs — WIMU Kitchen Nairobi

Knitted Throw Blanket 130 x...

Some blankets are for warmth and some are for the room. This Knitted Throw Blanket does both. The soft knitted texture gives a sofa or armchair the lived-in, layered look that styling magazines charge a fortune to fake, while still being a genuinely useful extra layer when Nairobi turns cold in the evening. At 130 x 170cm it is sized as a throw rather than bedding — long enough to drape properly over the arm of a sofa or across the foot of a bed without swamping either, which means it reads as deliberate instead of like spare bedding left out. It is lightweight enough to use year-round, so it earns its place on the chair in December as much as in July. Available in mustard, white, peach and brown: mustard and peach as a warm accent, white and brown as quiet neutrals.

Buying guide

Throws and blankets are not the same purchase, and mixing them up is why people end up disappointed. A throw at 130 x 170cm is for draping and styling with useful warmth attached; a blanket at 200 x 230cm is for covering a bed and two people. Buy this one for the chair, the end of the bed, or the reading corner — not as your main cold-season layer. On texture, knitted throws have an open weave, which is exactly what gives them their look, but it also means air moves through more than it does with fleece, so this is a comfort layer rather than a heat trap. Colour does most of the work here: mustard and peach are accent colours that will set the tone of a neutral sitting room, while white and brown recede and let the furniture lead. If the goal is maximum warmth for the cold months, choose a sherpa fleece blanket and use this as the decorative layer on top. Fold rather than hang for storage, since knitted fabrics stretch on a hanger.

How it compares

Against a sherpa fleece blanket, this is the better-looking and more versatile of the two but the less warm — fleece traps air, knitting lets some through. Compared with a woven cotton throw, the knitted texture has more visible depth and reads as cosier in a room, while flat woven cotton is easier to wash and iron. Against a full duvet or bedding set, this is not a substitute; it is the finishing layer that goes on top. Choose this when you want a sofa or bedroom to look considered and have something warm within reach; choose fleece when the priority is purely getting warm.

Frequently asked questions

Is it big enough for a bed?
At 130 x 170cm it is sized as a throw, so it works across the foot of a bed or over a sofa or armchair rather than as full bed cover. For a double bed, choose the 200 x 230cm sherpa fleece blanket.

Is a knitted throw warm enough for the cold season?
It is a comfortable extra layer, but the open knit lets more air through than fleece. For genuine cold-season warmth, layer it over a fleece blanket or duvet.

How should I store it?
Fold it rather than hanging it. Knitted fabric stretches out of shape on a hanger, and it folds down small enough for a shelf or ottoman.
