600mm is the mid-height bollard, and often the right one. Tall enough to sit above low ground cover and light a path properly, low enough that it does not dominate a small garden or block a view across a courtyard the way an 800mm fitting can. The E27 lamp holder gives you control: choose the wattage and colour temperature that suits the setting, change to something warmer if the first bulb looks harsh against planting, and replace a cheap bulb rather than the whole fitting when it fails — which over a run of several bollards is a genuine long-term saving. Aluminium body in black at 140mm wide, rated IP44 for splash protection, and mains-powered at 220–240V so brightness never depends on the weather.

Buying guide
Height is worth choosing deliberately rather than by price. At 600mm this clears low ground cover and lights a path from above it, while a 400mm fitting gets lost in planting within a season or two and an 800mm one can feel imposing in a small courtyard. Walk the path and hold something at each height before deciding if you can. On protection, IP44 covers rain and splashes and is fine for a normal garden bed, but if your compound is dusty — an unpaved drive, a windy dry season — the IP64 bollards in this range seal considerably better. The E27 holder is the flexibility argument: bulbs are cheap and available everywhere here. Use LED bulbs to keep heat inside the fitting low, check the maximum wattage before fitting anything bright, and space bollards 2 to 3 metres apart for an even run.
How it compares
Against the 800mm E27 bollard, this is shorter and less imposing in a small garden. Compared with the IP64 E27 bollard, that seals out dust far better at a similar concept. Against the sealed integrated-LED bollards, those last longer without maintenance but cannot be re-lamped. Against the cone-shaped bollard, that adds a frosted shade for softer, more diffused light.
Frequently asked questions
What height bollard should I choose?
600mm clears low ground cover and lights a path from above it. A 400mm fitting disappears into planting within a couple of seasons; 800mm can feel imposing in a small courtyard.
Is IP44 sufficient?
It covers rain and splashes, fine for a normal garden bed. In a dusty compound, the IP64 bollards in this range seal much better.
What bulb should I fit?
An LED E27 to keep heat down and running cost negligible. Check the maximum wattage in the manual before fitting a bright bulb.
