An ultra-light folding camping bed that gets you off the ground and packs down small enough to travel. Weight is the reason to choose this over a heavier cot: if a camp bed is light, it comes on the trip; if it is heavy, it stays in the garage and you sleep on a mat.

Buying guide
Check each leg is locked before lying down. On soft ground, put a small board or flat stone under each foot so the legs do not sink through the night. Fold it dry — fabric stored damp mildews across the sleeping surface within a week, and that smell never fully leaves.
How it compares
Against a sleeping mat, a camp bed is far more comfortable and bulkier. Against a heavier cot, this is the one you will actually carry. Against an air mattress, nothing punctures, though it is firmer to sleep on.
