Returns
A round wooden table that folds flat. Round is the sociable shape — nobody sits at the head, and four people fit around a circle in less floor space than a rectangle needs. Folding means it appears for Sunday lunch or a card game and goes behind a door afterwards, which is what makes it work in a small home.

Buying guide
Wood and weather do not mix long term: use it outdoors by all means, but bring it in or under cover rather than leaving it in the rain, which swells and splits timber at the joints. Wipe rather than soak when cleaning, and check the folding mechanism is fully locked before loading it.
How it compares
Against a plastic folding table, wood looks far better indoors and needs more care outdoors. Against a fixed dining table, this stores away. Against a rectangular folding table, a round top seats a group more sociably in less space.
