Returns
A three-piece duvet cover set with tufted wave texture, in white, grey, blue or pink. Tufting is stitched, raised texture rather than print, which is why it photographs well and why hotels use it: the bed looks dressed and deliberate without anything having to match a pattern elsewhere in the room.

Buying guide
Skip fabric softener, which mats tufting and flattens the wave permanently. Wash cool and shake the cover out as it dries so the texture stands back up. Tufted fabric holds a little more dust than flat weave, so shake it out when you do the room rather than only on wash day.
How it compares
Against a plain cover, tufting adds depth and shadow. Against pinch pleating, waves are softer and less formal. Against a printed set, texture works in a room that already has pattern in the curtains or rug.
