This is an ultra soft rabbit-fur style bedside rug measuring 60 x 180 cm, with an irregular, cloud-like shape designed to lie alongside a bed or in front of a sofa. Stepping out of bed onto cold tiles first thing in the morning is a small daily shock in many Kenyan homes, especially in Nairobi's chilly months, and this runner replaces it with something super soft, sleek and warm underfoot. The long, narrow shape fits beside a bed without crowding the room, and the soft curved edges look relaxed and modern compared with a hard rectangle. It also works as a decor accent in a reading corner, by a dressing table or across the foot of the bed. A lovely touch for a main bedroom, a teenager's room, a nursery reading area or a short-stay rental that needs a cosy, photo-friendly detail. Colours as pictured.

Buying guide
Measure along the side of your bed: at 180 cm long, this rug runs the length of most 6-foot beds, so you step onto it wherever you get out. For a 5x6 bed or a small room, place it at the foot of the bed instead. Soft pale colours look dreamy but show dust and marks; grey and darker tones are easier in busy homes. Shake it outside every few days and brush it gently with a soft brush to keep the fibres smooth. For spills, blot immediately and spot clean with cool water and a little mild soap, then air-dry flat in the shade. Avoid hot washes, ironing and direct heat, which can mat the fibres.
How it compares
A regular bath-style mat is flat and functional but does nothing for the look of a room. A real fur rug is expensive and hard to care for. A soft rabbit-fur style runner gives the plush feel and luxurious look at a fraction of the cost, and is far easier to keep clean.
