These are antibacterial washing machine cleaner tablets, sold as a box of 12. If your clean laundry smells musty or your machine has a damp smell when you open the door, dirt, detergent residue and mould are building up inside the drum where you can't see. Drop a tablet into an empty drum and run a wash: the effervescent tablet fizzes and foams to loosen grime, kill bacteria and lift out the smell. They work in front-loading drum machines, top-loading machines and semi-automatic twin tubs, so whatever you use at home in Nairobi or upcountry, the same box fits. Regular cleaning keeps clothes fresher, helps protect the machine and saves you scrubbing inside the drum by hand. A simple monthly habit for families who wash often, people with babies' clothes in the mix, or anyone in a humid flat where machines stay damp between loads.

Buying guide
Use one tablet in an empty machine and run a normal or hot cycle, with no clothes inside. Once a month suits most homes; clean more often if you wash daily or the machine smells. After the cycle, wipe the door seal and leave the door open so the drum dries. Store the box closed in a dry place, away from children and out of the bathroom steam. Keep tablets away from your laundry detergent so they are not mixed up.
How it compares
Some people pour bleach or vinegar into the drum. Bleach is harsh on rubber seals and clothes, and vinegar only works on scale. These tablets are made for washing machines, measured per use and foam through the drum, so cleaning is simpler and gentler on the machine.
