Knitted bohemian cushion covers with tassel trim, in square or rectangular. The knit and the tassels are what make these read as bohemian rather than merely coloured — texture at the edge catches light and shadow, so a plain sofa gets depth without a single pattern being introduced into the room.

Buying guide
Choose square for a sofa back and rectangular for lower-back support in a chair. Tassels need care in the wash — turn covers inside out, use a gentle cycle and dry flat, or the trim tangles and pulls. Two or three covers in complementary tones beat a matched set of four for the layered bohemian look.
How it compares
Against plain cotton covers, knitted tassel covers bring texture that photographs well and needs gentler laundering. Against velvet, this is the casual, warmer-feeling option. Against printed covers, texture never dates the way a pattern can.
