Beverage Dispensers: Sizing Drinks for an Event
At any Kenyan function, the drinks table is where the queue forms. A dispenser with a tap moves people through four times faster than a jug being poured by one person — and it keeps the serving table tidy, which matters when it is also carrying food.
Sizing by guest count
| Guests | Dispenser capacity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10–20 | 2–3L | One dispenser, refill once |
| 30–50 | Two × 3L or one 5L | Two flavours beats one large one |
| 60–100 | Two × 5L plus refills ready | Station them apart to split the queue |
Two smaller dispensers almost always beat one big one: they let you offer a juice and a water, and they split the queue in half. A 2 Piece 3.3L Dispenser Set with Bamboo Base does exactly that, and the 3 Piece 2.2L Set gives you three options on one table.
The ice mistake everyone makes
Ice inside the dispenser waters the drink down and blocks the tap as it melts and shifts. Two better options: chill the juice fully before it goes in, or freeze a bottle of the same juice and stand it in the dispenser — it cools without diluting. For a long event, keep the refill jug in a cooler box rather than adding ice to the dispenser.
Height, taps and drips
- Raise it. A dispenser flat on a table means guests tilt cups awkwardly. A stand, as on the 5L Glass Beverage Dispenser with Faucet and Stand, puts the tap above cup height.
- Put a tray under the tap. Every dispenser drips; a tray saves the tablecloth.
- Test the tap before the guests arrive, with water. A stiff or leaking tap is discovered at the worst moment otherwise.
- Keep pulp out. Strain fresh juice, or the tap blocks within twenty minutes.
Cleaning, which is where dispensers fail
The tap is the part that gets neglected. Sugar residue inside the spout goes sticky, then sour. After every use, run warm water through the open tap, then dismantle it if it unscrews. Dry the glass fully before storing, and store the lid off so no smell develops inside.
Frequently asked questions
What size drink dispenser for 50 guests?
Two 3L dispensers or one 5L, with refills chilled and ready. Two units split the queue and let you offer two drinks.
Can I put ice in a beverage dispenser?
Better not to — it dilutes the drink and blocks the tap. Chill the juice first, or float a frozen bottle of the same juice in it.
How do I stop the tap dripping?
Check it is fully closed and the washer is seated. Always put a small tray under the tap regardless.
Glass or plastic dispensers?
Glass for looks and for anything acidic like passion or lemon; plastic for outdoor events where breakage is a real risk.
