A three-piece plain white fitted cotton sheet set. Fitted plus white is the hospitality standard for two reasons: elastic corners stay put through a restless night, and white can be laundered hot between guests. Three pieces covers the sheet and pillowcases in matching cotton.

Buying guide
Check mattress depth as well as bed size — a fitted sheet cut for a thin mattress will not stretch over a pillow-top, and one cut too deep bunches. Wash hot for hygiene between guests. Buy two sets per bed in a rental so the room is ready the same day.
How it compares
Against a flat sheet, fitted needs no tucking and does not come loose. Against coloured sets, white takes hot washing and always matches. Against a six-piece set, three pieces suit a bed where you already have a duvet cover.
